Undue suffering

To the editor:

Thank you so very much for your splendid editorial of Feb.10 (“Human targets”) concerning Gov. Paul LePage’s efforts to gut MaineCare for thousands of our most vulnerable citizens.

Surely, MaineCare is in a mess. But rather than balancing the budget on the backs of our poorest citizens, I think we ought to raise the taxes on soft drinks, alcohol and nicotine.

And we ought not to allow wealthy people to pass on their estates to their children tax free. I’m sure that there are many other ways to save MaineCare.

Jesus said, “Suffer the little children.” Perhaps Gov. LePage takes that literally.
