LISBON FIRE CLEANUP

Fire crews clean up after a blaze Thursday evening at the former Knight Celotex plant in Lisbon. The fire was reported at 6:36 p.m. Lisbon Fire Chief Sean Galipeau estimated crews had the fire knocked down in 20 minutes. Firefighters moved the excavator shown here away from the building as they checked the scene to ensure that flames didn’t spread anywhere else. Galipeau believes that a spark from a torch used for salvage work at the site might have smoldered and caused the blaze. A Durham Fire Department team walked around the building with a thermal imaging camera to check for flare-ups. Fire crews cleared the scene by 9 p.m., Galipeau said.
