West Bath educators lauded at conference
WEST BATH — West Bath Elementary School faculty were honored recently at an Expeditionary Learning conference in Baltimore.
Principal Emily Thompson and teachers Ida Beal and Nancy Riggs presented a Master Class on West Bath’s student created code of character titled: “Building Students’ Capacity and Leadership Skills through the Development of a Student Code of Character and School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports.”
Thompson was highlighted as one of three principals in the national network of 165 schools as a model of instructional leadership.
Expeditionary Learning is a school model that “challenges students to think critically and take active roles in their classrooms and communities, resulting in higher achievement and greater engagement in schools,” according to a news release.
