Lisbon volunteers beautify town Saturday
The newly formed Positive Change Lisbon group is tackling its first annual cleanup day Saturday in an effort to beautify the town all along Route 196.
With about 100 volunteers expected to participate in the effort, Ross Cunningham, president of the new group, invited anyone who may want to help to join in. Volunteers will meet at Lisbon High School at 9:30 a.m. and then will break into groups and start working in different areas along Route 196. ETTI of Lisbon Falls is bringing a street sweeper and will help the Lisbon Public Works Department clean the roadway.
Volunteers will work from 10 a.m. to noon, eat lunch — hot dogs are on the menu — from noon to 1 p.m. at the high school, and then work from 1 to 3 p.m.
The cleanup event is sponsored by Lisbon Public Works Department and Positive Change Lisbon, a group of businesses and citizens working together with town government to make improvements in town. Members aim to promote economic development and are responsible for organizing social events like the summer concert series.
