Hyde wrestlers off to international event

BATH — This upcoming weekend, the Hyde School- Bath wrestling team will trek to the Eastern Canadian Wrestling Championships at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton.

This is the first time in the history of Hyde wrestling that the team has attended an international competition. They have been working hard in the Gary Kent Wrestling Center on both folkstyle — a traditional American “high school” wrestling style, and Freestyle, one of the Olympic wrestling styles, with a variety of different rules and scoring opportunities.

Phoenix coach Logan Kidwell remarked, “The team is very excited for this opportunity to get out on the mat and test our skills this weekend in an international competition.”

The team will be represented by a core group of committed wrestlers — Seniors Jake Deutschlander and Tenzin Crane, sophomore Alex Hilton, and freshmen Connor Foye and Jacob Dawson.

Fellow coach Jesse Sataloff added, “This is a momentous occasion for Hyde wrestling, and we are thrilled to have this opportunity to be a part of an international event!”
