No charges in sexual abuse investigation

BIDDEFORD (AP) — The Maine attorney general says there will be no criminal charges stemming from an investigation of sexual abuse allegations against a former police officer.

The attorney general’s office investigated sex abuse allegations made against retired police officer Stephen Dodd. Attorney General Janet Mills says there is insufficient evidence to prove the elements of a crime beyond reasonable doubt.

Dodd was under investigation by Mills due to allegations he molested a Biddeford teenager more than a decade ago.

Mills says she doesn’t anticipate any further action in the matter.
