Santa Fund Getting That Snowball Rolling

The Santa Claus Fund

Donations are gathering steam (and to mix metaphors) rolling into a big ball of snow, to make a giant snowman. That rain we got the other day didn’t even melt Mr. Frosty.

Contributions were received from Wilson’s Drug Store $500; Sharon Drake Real Estate $250; Alan & Carol Sockloff $125; Fiona’s Catering $100; Kennebec Tavern $100, John Bachofer & Patricia McKenna $100; Bath Hair, Inc. $50; Pamela’s World $50; Dirigo Construction $50; Bettez Eatery, Inc. $25; John & Sheila Hewitt $25; Open Door Books $25; J’Adore Consignment $25; Buy Low Baby $20; and $26 in memory of the children of Sandy Hook Elementary.

Tonight is the Charity Auction at Joshua’s Tavern. In it’s 22nd year, all the proceeds of the auction and a dollar from each draft sold during the auction will benefit The Santa Fund. If you haven’t finished shopping yet for that “hard to find” gift, stop in and place a bid or two! They always have such cool stuff ~ Ski trips, Bruins Hockey tickets, sports equipment, special beer glasses and steins… one never knows what will come up. One year, there was a replica racecar hood! Wow, was that ever fun to wrap!

Still time

There is still time to get an application in if you need assistance or know someone who needs it. Just be sure to bring it to the post office by tomorrow, December 8th. The guidelines are below for those residing in Brunswick, Harpswell, West Harpswell, & Litchfield, Topsham, Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Richmond, Bath, West Bath, Phippsburg, Woolwich, Arrowsic, Georgetown, and Sebasco.

Children must be at least 6 months old and no older than 13 years as of 12/25/17. The custodial parent or legal guardian is the only person who may apply. The application letter must include the full name and the physical address, as well as a daytime telephone number of the custodial adult applying. The first and last name of each child, gender, age, and date of birth must be included. No exceptions! We ask for gender because not every name is gender specific.

The application letter must be postmarked by December 8th, 2017 and mailed to: The Santa Claus Fund, P.O. Box 278, Brunswick, ME 04011.

Our phone number is (207) 751-6385. Please call us a few days after mailing your letter for your box number and pickup place. We will also try to reach you, but will not leave a message with a child. The office is staffed M-F: 9 AM to Noon until Dec 15th and other times by chance. If we have any questions, we will call for clarification so be sure to leave a daytime telephone. If we cannot get through, there might not be a package packed and we would hate to disappoint anyone. Be sure to use your street address. Applications with only a Post Office box address will be rejected.

The package pickup date will be the morning of December 15th at the Brunswick Elks Club, Bath Elks Club, Bowdoinham, and Richmond town halls.

Donations to support our mission of providing gifts to children can be mailed to the above address. If you are donating new toys, games, hats, mittens, gift cards, or cash, these may be brought to the Elks Club at 179 Park Row in Brunswick, or on Lombard Street in Bath. Just ring the doorbell and someone will assist you. All donations are tax deductible as allowable by law. The publication notice of your donation or your check will be your receipt.
