Snowstorm, high winds expected Thursday in Maine, NH

(AP) More than a week of extreme cold in northern New England is going to give way briefly, but the warming temperature is going to be accompanied by a howling snowstorm.

Justin Arnott of the National Weather Service says the snow will arrive Thursday, with 3 to 6 inches projected on the New Hampshire coast and 5 to 10 inches projected in eastern Maine.

He says amounts could vary because New England is on the western edge of the coastal storm.

He says the snow will be accompanied by gusts of wind hitting 35 to 45 miles per hour. The wind will continue on Friday before colder temperatures return for the weekend.
