Maine State Music Theatre conducting local auditions

The Times Record

Area residents wishing they could get their shot on stage — now is the time to go for it.

Maine State Music Theatre will be conducting local auditions from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at 22 Elm St. in Brunswick. Those who wish to take part in the open call audition should show up, sign in and they will be seen in the order in which they arrive.

MSMT is seeking local adults for “Beauty and the Beast” (June 27 – July 14), “Saturday Night Fever” (July 18 – August 4) and “Singin’ in the Rain” (August 8-25). The theatre is seeking children for “Beauty and the Beast” and, possibly, “Singin’ in the Rain.” The theatre is also seeking performance interns — ages 18 and over — for the full season, from May 21to Aug. 26.

Time slots are:

• Children age 6-10 years old — 10-11 a.m.

• Maine adult actors — 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• Potential performance interns — 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Callbacks will take place Sunday, March 4.

Children should bring a headshot and resume, and prepare a 16-bar song, for which they must bring sheet music. Adult actors should bring a headshot and resume, and prepare 16 bars of two songs, for which they must bring sheet music. An accompanist will be provided.

Some actors may be asked to remain for a dance call from 3-5 p.m., and therefore should bring appropriate dance shoes. Not all locals will be required to dance in shows.

MSMT is a professional summer theatre celebrating its 60th Anniversary.
