PORTLAND – The driver of a car that went off the road in Standish in April, resulting in the death of a Saint Joseph’s College basketball player, has been charged with manslaughter.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said charges were filed against Tyler Hall by the District Attorney’s Office after an investigation into the crash on Chadbourne Road.

The crash killed Clark Noonan, 20, of Bangor, and injured Hall and two other passengers.

Hall, 19, of Pittston, was also charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.

The crash occurred about 1:30 a.m. on April 14. Authorities said Hall’s Mazda 626 was being driven at high speed when he lost control of the car and went off the road between Route 114 and White Rock Road.

The car rolled several times and landed on a chain-link fence. Noonan was thrown from the car, the sheriff’s office said.

Also injured besides Hall were James Philbrook, 20, of Auburn, and Terence Cullen, 21, of Sully, Iowa. All four were Saint Joseph’s students.

Noonan was a sophomore business management major and a 6-foot-6 center for the college’s basketball team. While at Bangor High School, he was a standout basketball and soccer player.

Hall was released from the Cumberland County Jail on Friday after posting $1,000 cash bail.
