Candidate for sheriff vows to wage war on abortions
A New Hampshire businessman running for sheriff of Hillsborough County said he would arrest doctors who perform abortions and would not rule out the use of deadly force to halt an abortion from taking place.
Republican Frank Szabo of Goffstown told WMUR-TV he believes elective abortions are illegal and would arrest any doctor who performs them.
When asked if he would use deadly force to prevent abortions, he said the sheriff should do “everything in their power” to prevent the abortion.
Szabo is one of four candidates in the district that includes Manchester. James A. Hardy is the other Republican candidate. Democratic candidates are Bill Barry and Robert Walsh, both of Manchester.
Democratic party leadership called on Republicans candidates to denounce Szabo’s stance.

Manchester resident tests positive for West Nile virus
Health officials said a Manchester adult has tested positive for West Nile Virus — the first human case confirmed in the state in two years.
The case brings to five the total number of cases in the state since 2000.
New Hampshire Health Director Dr. Jose Montero said the patient recovered. But he stressed there have been 41 deaths nationwide this year and people should take precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
Montero said spraying will begin Thursday in Manchester, where 29 mosquito batches have tested positive for the disease. Other communities where mosquitoes have been found to have West Nile this year are Nashua, Salem, Seabrook, North Hampton and Brentwood.
Symptoms can include severe headache and high fever.
